He can make you wait hours for an appointment
Scheduled follow up appointment several weeks in advance after zero notice that he switched from one medical practice to another. Drove 60 mile to the appointment and arrived 30 minutes late due to traffic issues. Staff talked to Dr. Smith and he could not take the five minutes to refer me for a follow up MRI that was previously scheduled at the original El Paso Medical Center. He's arrogant, condescending and vulgar. Too many other great Neurosurgeon's in the area. I'm sure I will find one.

I saw Dr. Smith at Del Sol for my appointment and had my surgery there as well. His clinic looks brand new and is clean, fast, and his staff speak Spanish. His office did everything for me to get an MRI at the hospital, which was extremely easy and fast. Surgery team of nurses, doctors and anesthesia were simply amazing. I have never received such great care in my life. The hospital stay felt like a 5-star hotel and the food was even good! Dr. Smith and his team are so kind, he even personally followed up with me after I got discharged. If I could give Dr. Smith AND the Del Sol hospital 10 stars, I would!! Simply Amazing

I cannot say enough kind words about Dr Smith and his staff. I never imagined the diagnosis that his PA found through MRI that had been overlooked for years by other providers. He was so comfortable to talk to from the moment we met him. He is a true hero in my book and I appreciate him more than I could ever express! I definitely had angels on my side that led me to his office. I highly recommend him and his amazing PA Mariana to anyone in need of their services. They are ER Nurse approved ??

I saw Dr. Smith in 2007. A friend recommended him. He removed a tumor from my brain. The surgery was done on Friday afternoon and I was home Sunday afternoon. He’s brilliant. He continued my care for 9 years, checking to make sure the tumor had not grown back. The last visit I had with him, he was going over the mri and discovered a mass in my throat. He called me before I arrived home, I had already left his office, and sent me to see an ent immediately. You won’t find a better surgeon. We will miss him in Texas.

My son suffered a hemorrhagic stroke. Dr Harold Smith was on call. The hospitalist call Harold Smith... Dr HAROLD SMITH SAID IT WAS NOT HIS PROBLEM AND REFUSED TO COME. I could not believe we were sitting there in COVENANT MICU, my son was bleeding into his brain and DR HAROLD SMITH REFUSED THE CALL. I ask them to call again or anyone. They did. His PA/NP stated they would not accept the consult, and refused again to come. Well I guess it wasn't HIS SON. HE WAS THE DR ON CALL. HIS LACK OF CARE WAS ABHORRENT. HE NEVER CAME. THIS HAPPENED AT 5AM He stalled until he was off call at 7 AM. My son could have died much less the brain damage increasing by not recieving care immediately.

Dr. Smith and his team are amazing. Professional, experienced, and down right good people to be around. I can not believe I am already home and comfortable after my surgery on Monday. He cared and comforted my wife and son after the procedure and put them at ease. You will not find a better doctor and I highly recommend Dr Smith!!!

I really would reconsider choosing this doctor again. The average wait in his waiting room for a scheduled apt is more than 3 hours. (There's a Rosa's next door). The guy is a pod in terms of bedside manner and other human-based interaction skills. He does not believe in effective pain management (after brain surgery!) and my chronic pain specialist had to come in and persuade Smith to give me anything more than ibuprofen. If I were to have go through this again, I would definitely go elsewhere.

Dr. Smith was very confident and understanding to my first and scary tumor. I like that he acknowledged everyone that was in the room with me. I knew he was the right doc from his hand shake. Not only from Dr. Smith but the nurses he worked with. The offices was very comfortable and felt like everyone worked as a team. I couldn't ask for anyone better and very thankful to him and staff to achieving excellent health.
