I was referred to Dr. Lavu in November of 2020 for pancreatic surgery. Dr. Lavu met with me on a telemed visit for no less than 45 minutes to explain his procedure. His kindness, and very confident positive attitude helped keep my anxiety to a minimum. He proved to be a talented and very thorough surgeon with the added gift of great bedside manner. I was never rushed when speaking with Dr. Lavu. Following surgery, I was received wonderful care from the nursing staff as well as Dr. Lavu's surgical staff at Jefferson Hospital downtown. My recovery has gone very smoothly with the help of Dr. Lavu's office staff, who return all calls, even offering assistance on New Year's Eve! I would encourage those who need pancreatic surgery to make Dr. Lavu and the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson your choice for excellent, skilled, and personal care.

My visit with Dr. Lavu occurred during one of the most frightening times in my life. But when I was in his care I felt as if I was the only patient he had. Every aspect of my care was addressed promptly and completely. He took the time to really listen to my fears, my hopes and my questions. He explained my treatment course every step of the way so there were no surprises. Today, almost 5 years later, I remain cancer free and forever grateful! JG

I know I won’t ever find the correct words to describe how lucky I am to have met you. Dr Lavu is an amazing surgeon and a beautiful human being. Dr Lavu is calm, genuine, patient, kind, and reassuring. He takes the time and never makes me feel like the appointment is rushed. He explains things and he has called me back to speak to me directly so nothing is lost in communication via email or via another form of communication. Thank you!!??????

Dr. Lavu exudes a quiet confidence, mixed with empathy and concern. I have never met a surgeon who listed both reasons for and against surgery. Dr. Lavu informed us of his plan for surgery, but during the operation, based on pathology reports, Dr. Lavu executed a less invasive procedure which will benefit me as my life goes forward. Talk about thinking on one’s feet!! Dr. Lavu surrounds himself with an outstanding team who are just as capable and caring as he!

Dr. Lavu is an amazing surgeon. He is very personable, friendly, and compassionate. His office staff and the nurses on the 13th floor are equally wonderful. His entire team was amazing and I would recommend them in a heartbeat. If you need pancreatic surgery, rest assured that you are in good hands with Dr. Lavu and with Jefferson. If I had to do it all again I would do it the same way, with Dr. Lavu.

My husband John was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in October of 2018. Dr Lavu was able to perform my husband’s surgery and remove his entire tumor. Dr Lavu is an amazing surgeon with a tremendous amount of compassion. He’s extremely knowledgeable and confident. He is also very personable and easy to talk to. My husband and I can’t thank him enough for all that he has done for us! We would also like to point out how amazing the entire nursing staff is on the 13th floor of Jefferson University!
