This content was provided by Dr. Shennib "Dr. Hani Shennib is Clinical Full Professor at the Department of Surgery, University of Arizona, School of Medicine in Phoenix. He is also an Adjunct Full Professor at the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He is an internationally recognized cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon. After graduating in 1975, he did his postgraduate residency training in general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery at London University in the UK and McGill University in Montreal. Subsequently, he underwent further fellowship training in Thoracic Transplantation at the University of Toronto and in Vascular and Endovascular Therapy at the Arizona Heart Institute. He holds the American Board Certifications in Surgery and Thoracic Surgery. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the American College of Surgeons and is a member of numerous specialty societies. Dr. Shennib also holds a Master of Science degree in Experimental Surgery from McGill University. Following completion of training in 1988 Dr. Shennib functioned as an attending cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon at the Montreal General Hospital where he established an active Thoracic Transplantation Program. He became involved in research and development of innovative Cardiothoracic and Vascular Technology. He was also actively involved in research and teaching at McGill University. His clinical area of expertise is in innovative minimally invasive techniques in cardiac, vascular and thoracic procedures. His field of expertise is "Application of and Assessment of New Devices and Technology in Medicine and Tele-surgery". Dr. Shennib conducted the first North American Clinical Trial on the use of robotics in coronary artery bypass surgery at New York Beth-Israel and St. Luc-Roosevelt Hospitals in 2000. He sits in numerous committees and advisory boards for innovative technology companies and medical societies and is involved in several international "think-tank" committees on innovations in the field of cardiovascular therapy. Dr. Shennib is equally recognized as an authority in the fields of transplantation and in surgical oncology. He is a full adjunct professor in the department of Oncology at McGill University and has chaired several NIH trials on lung cancer. He is on the Canadian "who's who", sat on the Editorial Board of numerous journals including Transplantation and the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation and has edited and published over 200 articles, books and chapters. Dr. Shennib serves regularly as an advisor on establishing new medical centers worldwide (e.g. Kazakhstan, UAE, Egypt and Libya). In addition to his medical profession he has played key roles in international conflict resolution, participated in ME world economic forums and has held several prestigious positions including presidency of the National Council on Canada Arab Relations and member of the Board of Governors of Concordia University in Montreal.Dr. Shennib moved in 2008 from Canada to Phoenix, Arizona where he continues his interests as physician, educator and researcher."
