Dr.Fischer repaired my shattered femur and three weeks later I became over-confident and careless and fell again. Since I had never had a bone break before and had a history of recuperating very quickly from any illness, I failed to pay proper attention toDr. Fischer's information re the time needed for bones to heal after a fracture. I thought I would be able to recover in a third of the time he said. Wish I had listened to him! A year after the initial break I needed another femur repair and a hip replacement. Both were done by Dr. Fischer and this time I listened to him, followed his instructions and enjoyed total healing. Dr. Fischer is the most compassionate and empathetic doctor. It is clear that he is seriously devoted to his patients and is interested only in successful outcomes for them.

Less than three weeks after hip surgery I am further along than I expected to be in two or three months. Have only a three inch incision as his technique is very non-invasive and results in a much quicker recovery. Excellent surgeon, very professional, easy to talk to, communicates with confidence, and performs above and beyond my best expectations.

Nobody ever really WANTS to have surgery! But for anyone who NEEDS hip replacement surgery, I can say from experience that there can be no better choice than Doctor Gustav Fischer, his PA Isaac K Obeng, and the whole Fischer team. From reception to after-care, everyone is kind, patient, and informative. To say that Dr Fischer is highly skilled in an understatement; he is brilliant. The technique he uses for hip replacement (Direct Superior Approach) involves no cutting through muscle and requires a relatively small incision. I can vouch for the fact that healing is easier this way, and requires none of the difficult post-operative restrictions one hears so much about. On top of all that, he (along with Isaac and the rest of the staff) is really nice. Personally, i can’t imagine why anyone with access to this level of expertise and care would have a hip replaced anywhere else. I know where I will be going for my second hip surgery if ever I have to have one!

I thank God my GP recommended Dr Fisher to me. I am in my late 60s and had become very uncomfortable walking, hiking and doing yard work due to arthritis in my hip. Dr.Fisher replaced my hip early spring of 2018. I am so pleased with the results. Immediately after surgery they had me up and walking. I used a walker to go home after surgery and said goodby to the walker within 24 hours. No more hip pain. Over the summer I was able to hike 5 miles without pain. Thank you Dr. Fischer.

Dr. Gustav Fischer recently performed a total hip replacement for me on November 30, 2018. I was thrilled with the care I received and Dr Fischer’s skill and ability to clearly communicate. This is the surgeon to use for hip replacement in Portland. We found Dr. Fischer after my wife’s physical therapist commented that they noticed his patients recovering more quickly and with less pain. I made an initial appointment and was able to get in quickly. Dr. Fisher took a lot of time to explain tre
