I was out of town with a gallbladder issue. I needed to get it removed immediately. Dr. Ramila (Portillo) was the first person I called based on reviews from this site. I made a great decision! Can't say enough about Dr. Portillo. I called his office and a human being answered the phone! Denise was kind, efficient and professional. She made an appointment immediately upon my arrival in town. Went to it, and less than one week later, I was in surgery. The surgery was quick and uneventful... in and out. After the anesthetics wore off, I was walking around, hardly knowing I just received surgery to remove my gallbladder and repair a hernia. Throughout the process, he and his staff were amazing. He uses Baptist Hospital for his surgeries. Be forewarned, this is a no-frills hospital... old school... don't let that impact your decision. Clean and professional. Nurse Gwen is fantastic! All in all, I highly recommend this amazing medical pro and his general surgery team!

My son referred me to Dr. Portillo because I had hernia problems for a long time and couldn't be soon as soon as I would have liked because of the COVID-19 pandemic. My son and I went to see Dr. Portillo and his manner was very pleasant as he explained my surgical procedure with clarity and after the initial consult, Dr. Portillo performed a very successful surgery the following week. I went home the same day after surgery. I would recommend Dr. Portillo for anyone that is looking for a skilled surgeon who authentically cares about his patients.

I really liked Dr. Portillo. Had a laparoscopic cholecystectomy and never took more than ibuprofen post-op. I did not feel rushed when planning my surgery, in the hospital or during my post-op visit. He is open to questions and takes time to explain things. As a nurse myself it was anxiety provoking being on the other side as a patient. His demeanor and bedside manner was a good reminder of how we should all treat patients in a vulnerable time. I would definitely recommend him.

Dr. Guillermo Portillo is an amazing surgeon and I highly recommend him. He was very professional and took extra time to explain everything to me and we went over my opinions. He answered all my questions and most importantly I felt immediate relief knowing and feeling that I was in good hands. It was easy and fast to schedule my surgery as his staff is also very professional and efficient. The day before my surgery while at the surgery prep I was told by several hospital personnel that I couldn’t have had a better surgeon. The day of my surgery random nurses that were prepping me also express how I was in the best hands and that had nothing to worry about. My surgery was a success and I was very happy with the results. The incisions were so small that days after I felt as if no surgery had taken place. I felt great ! My follow up came around and once again he was very thorough about my results. I feel great! Little to no scars! Trustworthy & Professional!!!

Throughout the process of planning my surgery, Dr. Portillo informed me of options, outlined the procedure, listened to concerns, and answered my questions. The decision to proceed with the procedure was left entirely to me. On the day of the surgery,he once again outlined the procedure; I knew that I was in good hands. After surgery, he checked on me on a regular basis. It took longer than I expected for my intestinal track to recover (everyone recovers at a different pace); at each visit Dr. Portillo calmed me and urged patience. I was released from the hospital almost a week after surgery. I recovered nicely, and expressed my thanks and my appreciation of his medical and surgical skills to Dr. Portillo at my followup visit.
