I went in with tingling in both my hands and arm pain that kept me up all night. I had a cervical fusion C5-C7 and the night of the surgery is the first night I was able to sleep. The results were amazing and my recovery wasn't bad at all. I was back to work within a week.

So far so good. A little worried about having another spine surgery w out any medication to help w the pain, according to the other comments... Concerning a bit bc the operation is a very painful one I wouldn’t of been able to do it without the meds last time and if I can’t have any I’m going to die lol

I can’t say enough good things about Dr Schroeder. He’s an outstanding surgeon, I’m walking upright and more than I’ve been able in years. He listens and is honest about recovery. I’ve never once felt I was being pacified as I’ve been in the past with other surgeons

Interesting. He is mo an outstanding, top notch spine surgeon, no doubt but it was shocking to find out the symptons I had been experiencing were related to worsening arthritic cervical spine and surgery very much required. The survey hgv erc was outstanding and successfully but I spent a month in rehab (physical therapy) with barely any pain medication that made recovery tortuous. Until pain medication prohibition is lifted, vetoed or whatever, you must be advised ahead of time of the suffering. My only criticism of Dr. Schroeder is a seeming lack of follow up concern.

My visit to Dr Schroeder went very well. He explained all the pro and cons of having back surgery. I think the surgery was a great success and eliminated the pain I was experiencing . Along with the doctor his staff was on the ball in answering any questions before and after surgery. I want to give them all a special thanks.

Today Dr. Gregory Schroeder performed a "lumbar decompression microdiscectomy" and I simply cannot express my gratitude to him (hopefully he reads this). From day 1, he made sure not to over-promise the results making it clear that nerves take a while to recover and sometimes they don't. Well I had my surgery at 6.30am today and I've been walking around since 10am non-stop (>6 hours) with NO pain (besides the incision). Dr. Schroeder gave me my life back and I'm eternally grateful! He takes his time with his patients, explains things slowly and carefully and gives you time to think and ask. One thing that I appreciated is that during our first visit, after discussing my history and symptoms he did NOT recommend to jump into surgery like other doctors did (I got 3 opinions that week). He decided to get a new MRI because the symptoms have changed and wanted to be able to understand the root cause. Only after that, after a true diagnosis he recommended surgery. Thank you Dr Schroeder!

I went to Dr. Schroeder in hopes he would be able to help the terrible sciatic pain I had down my entire leg (to my toes) due to a herniated disc. I was seeing another physician in the Rothman offices, but she was taking a more conservative approach (steroid injections every 4-6 months for 2 years). My first appointment with him made me feel incredibly comfortable and relaxed in my decision to have surgery. I was in such pain the office, despite being on a double dose of painkillers, he actually accommodated my surgery 2 weeks following that appointment- even though he was booked until January. During surgery day, I was ready, but super anxious- which he saw. He ensured me it would be fine. I am officially 10 weeks post-op, and it’s been a complete life-changing surgery. I can plan my wedding, do household tasks, WALK (huge!), go to the gym, and enjoy life without having to lay down constantly or be on painkillers to control the nerve pain. I’m so excited for this new lease on life.

Dr. Schroeder performed an Anterior Cervical Discectomy & Fusion on me for C4 - C6 at Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. I went to my consultation with an MRI and Dr. Schroeder gave me a thorough explanation as to why surgery was my best course of action. His demeanor was calm and competent, I scheduled my surgery within 15 minutes of meeting him. My primary symptom was a zombie arm which bothered me 24 hours a day for the two months it took me to jump through insurance hoops and get a proper diagnosis. I'm fortunate, some people have symptoms for years. I had immediate relief after surgery. Recovery takes time (6 months to a year). My biggest concern now is trying not to undo all the good the surgery did. I highly recommend Dr. Schroeder.
