This content was provided by Dr. Rauch There's a lot of good information out there, but there's also a lot of misinformation. And I see that as part of my role to help clear up those misconceptions that patients may have, but also encourage them to be an active participant in their health and to research things that we may talk about, so that they can come back with good questions and feel confident that they're doing the right thing. Common things being common is the thing we always hear in medicine - if something's the most likely thing that's probably what it is. But there are times when it's not. And that's my job as a physician to recognize those differences and to really listen to what patients tell me. As an internist, we see people over a long period of time. So if someone may have a unique hobby, or they travel - they'll come in and tell me things about their family. So I learn things about people every day, and you learn things about life every day from patients.
