While in the hospital for non-cardiac reasons, I began to experience chest pain. After various tests revealed artery blockages, Dr Fontana was called in for a consultation which resulted in me being scheduled for a triple bypass the next morning. During the night at approximately 2:30am my condition worsened and Dr Fontana and his team were called in for emergency surgery. Notwithstanding the hour, Dr Fontana and his team assembled rapidly and performed life-saving surgery. I am about to start cardiac rehab and thanks to Dr Fontana and his team, I can look forward to restored health - they are my miracle workers.

My last visit to this office was conducted with a great deal of courtesy and respect by three different individuals. I always arrived feeling stressed, but by the time I leave I'm relaxed and calm. Dr. Fontana offers much valuable information in a most kind way and always makes sure I've asked all the questions I have for him.

Recently I underwent mitral valve repair; Dr. Fontana was the surgeon. I initially refused the treatment, but after extensive and clear explanations from the doctor and his staff, as well as extensive diagnostic work including TEE, I understood that it was best to treat the problem early even though I had no symptoms. Based on the diagnostic procedures, Dr. Fontana was able to implement a minimally invasive procedure (incision on the side rather than via the sternum) and he did such a great job that I was out of the hospital less than 48 hours after the procedure was complete. I don't think there is anyone I would trust more with this type of procedure than Dr. Fontana.

I was recently confronted with the prospect of open heart surgery. The idea of the surgery and recovery was overwhelming and I initially chose not to have it done. After researching more about the surgery and doctors in Southern California, I chose to have Dr. Fontana do the surgery. I had a double bypass and because of his skill and state-of-the-art methods, I was out of the hospital in 3 days. I felt no pain and within several weeks had fully resumed my normal routine. I realize recovery time is an individual process, but I can't recommend Dr. Fontana highly enough. His skill, coupled with his personal care and concern, make him a truly exceptional surgeon. In closing, Dr. Fontana is the Tom Brady of heart surgery!

Dr. Fontana and his staff have been very thorough in identifying my real heart issues in order to avoid an extremely invasive open heart surgery if possible. If they find that I need surgery, I'm sure, based on our conversations he will find the least invasive way of obtaining the best long term results.
