Nature of Complaint: This eight year old male patient with SCT was evaluated by the insured after being hit in the eye with a dirt clot. The patient was DI with traumatic hyphema and mila retinal edema. Medications were prescribed and the patient was advised to return the following day. Later that afternoon the patient returned due to increased pain and was evaluated by the insured's partner. The patient was subsequently referred to an eye specialist due to increased IOP and pain and underwent an emergent anterior chamber washout. It was subsequently determined the patient's sickle cell trait was a factor in exacerbating the treatment of the elevated IOP associated with a relatively mild hyphema.
