This content was provided by Dr. Avery "Dr. Avery has been practicing orthopaedic surgery in Northern Virginia for more than twenty-five years. As a general orthopaedist, he has special interests in sports medicine and joint replacement. Dr Avery is active in a number of medical societies and professional leadership roles. He is presently serving as Chairman of the Orthopaedic Department at the Virginia Hospital Center, and he is the former Chief of Orthopaedics at Northern Virginia Doctor's Hospital. He is past President of the Arlington County Medical Society and has served as the Vice Counselor and Delegate from the 10th District to the Medical Society of Virginia. Dr. Avery participates in academia as well, serving as a member of the teaching faculty at Georgetown University Medical School where he participates in student and resident education. Additionally, he is involved in sports medicine having served as team orthopaedic surgeon for the Washington Redskins from 1995-2000 and as a team physician for Northern Virginia High Schools for over twenty years."
