Dr. Beim's bio

This content was provided by Dr. Beim "I have been practicing Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine on the Western Slope of Colorado for 21 years. I have clinics in Gunnison, Crested Butte and Telluride, Colorado. I love the outdoors and have been an athlete since I was young. I love to ski and mountain bike as well as play with my kids, Skylar,15 and Jakob, 9. I have had the honor as serving the US Olympic Team in 3 Olympic Games including being the Chief Medical Officer in Sochi Russia for the 2014 Games. I was also the Chief Medical Officer in Rio in 2016 for the Paralympic Games for Team USA and will be the CMO for the 2018 winter Paralympic Games in Korea. I understand sports injuries as I have treated thousands of athletes and also suffered many injuries throughout my life. My goal is to help my patients get back to the activities they love as quickly as possible. I believe that surgery should be avoided whenever possible and if there is a conservative, nonoperative solution, I will offer that to my patients. "

Care Philosophy

This content was provided by Dr. Beim "I treat my patients as if they were my family. I really care about them and want the best for them. My goal is to get them back to their normal activities as soon as possible. I take a conservative approach whenever possible and really believe in the power of nonoperative care with a multidisciplinary approach.  Physical therapy, accupuncture, cross training are all important elements in my treatment approach.

I also am a proponent of musculoskeletal ultrasound for not only diagnostics but also integrate it in many of my treatments.

If surgery is necessary, I believe that physical therapy is 90% of the success of the surgical outcome. I have had excellent training in orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine as well as trauma and arthroscopy."
