He has expertise in treating Adult ADHD, anxiety, depression, insomnia, sleep apnea, and sexual concerns ( decreased sexual drive, low testosterone, erectile dysfunction, rapid ejaculation), as well as treating alcohol and nicotine dependence. He counsels patients about Advance Directives and palliative care. Dr. Withrow attended Davidson College where he majored in Psychology.He served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Peru in 1966-1968. He graduated from Duke University School of Medicine in 1975 and completed his residency in Family Medicine in 1985. After residency, he started THE FAMILY DOCTOR in Chapel Hill and merged with Med First Immediate Care in 2015. He retired from Med First in April 2017 and is no longer affiliated with that clinic. When I called them on Monday morning for advice on if I should go to the ER as I may be bleeding internally, they told me to get up there and they would help me out. ...more

Dr. Withrow is a remarkably talented and wise primary physician who has helped manage our family health brilliantly over decades. He is terrific at patient education and risk management considerations. He knows how to listen, and also when to prod. His associates have been excellent also.
