First became interested in medicine when diagnosed with Legg-Perthes at age of 4. Have never forgotten the orthopedic surgeon's patient explanation of treatment to enlist me fully in plan of care. Try to use same approach with my patients to involve them in their own treatment plan. Grew up in an Air Force family with a "rocket scientist" aeronautical engineer father. Worked as an avionics engineer (computers on board military aircraft) prior to entering medical school. Was an officer in a History of Medicine Society in Med school (fun to see how far we've come!) Chose my first fellowship in Vascular & Interventional radiology as I saw general trend toward minimally invasive surgery. Chose my second fellowship in Breast Imaging & Intervention because I especially enjoy working with these patients. Hope to marry my interest in percutaneous intervention & my interest in treating breast cancer by identifying cancers appropriate for percutaneous ablation.
