This content was provided by Dr. Jackson "Dr. Gilchrist Jackson specializes in Surgical Oncology, Endocrine Surgery and Head and Neck surgery as a member of Houston Methodist Surgical Specialists. He previously practiced at Kelsey Seybold Clinic where he developed it's Approved Freestanding Cancer Program and Mammogram Classification system and also the Breast Diagnostic Clinic; and also with Texas Oncology. He trained with the best physicians at the UT Southwestern School of Medicine and later at a Surgical Oncology Fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center, which was focused on the above special interests. His clinical research interests include the diagnostic imaging for patients with hyperparathyroidism and breast cancer; the early diagnosis of thyroid cancer through FNA biopsy; parotid tumors; and function-preserving neck dissection for thyroid and other cancers. Dr. Jackson's extensive clinical practice includes patients with hyperparathyroidism, benign thyroid disease including goiter and Grave's disease (hyperthyroidism) and all types of thyroid cancer including selective, limited or more extensive neck dissection. Surgery is carefully tailored to the extent of disease and includes MIP parathyroidectomy. Dr. Jackson treats MEN (multiple endocrine neoplasia) patients, and patients with adrenal functional tumors such as Conn's and Cushing's Syndromes, and pheochromocytoma. He also treats neuroendocrine and pancreatic functional tumors. His other clinical interests include breast cancer surgery and diagnosis as well as head and neck cancer/tumors, melanoma, soft tissue sarcoma and other diseases of the salivary gland, colon, small intestine, stomach and pancreas. His expertise in general surgery is broad and includes hernia, complex GI surgery, gall bladder, GERD, ulcer disease, lymph nodes, and complicated skin cancers."

Dr. Jackson is an excellent surgeon. He has performed two operations on me in the last 4 years. In both operations tumors were growing on my internal organs. Dr. Jackson literally saved my life when appendix burst and went immediately septic throughout the abdominal cavity. If not for his emergency surgery on me at St Luke's and his post-op care, I would have died. I love this doctor.
