He served as a U.S.A.F. Flight Surgeon in Southeast Asia. He is a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic/ Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS)/ The Orbital Society/ and the American Ophthalmological Society. He is a past president of the Milwaukee Ophthalmological Society. Dr. Harris has received the Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology/ recognizing his frequent contributions as Senior Course Instructor. He is listed in ""The Best Doctors in America""/ and in ""The Best Doctors in America: Midwest Region""; all editions. He is Editor-in-Chief of ""Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery"". Dr. Harris is one of 27 Fellowship Preceptors sponsored by the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. In addition to frequent participation in national and international meetings/ he has delivered 88 invited lectures. He is the author of 120 scientific publications.
