I'm pleased with doctor Shapiro and his staff. Dr. Shapiro has a unique way of asking a lot of questions and doesn't want a dissertation for an answer. He is thorough and methodical in his approach. He spends a great deal of time with his patients.. explains what he plans to do and follows through. I suggest that those who feel the need to explain, submit a note beforehand.

Dr. Shapiro diagnosed my Crohn's disease when others had dismissed my symptoms as a virus and he has provided excellent and thorough care, recommending surgery when it was indicated and referring me to a surgeon experienced in procedures like the one I needed. I have consistently found Dr. Shapiro and his office to be responsive, caring and professional. I have great confidence in him and his office.
I have never had to schedule an urgent appointment.

The absolute worst doctor I’ve ever been to, sarcastic and condescending, refuses to listen. Couldn’t even be bothered to read chart before appointments so had to completely explain my issues each time. Office staff just as bad, went in for an endoscopy they scheduled and arrive to find I’m not on schedule but they will squeeze me in. Refused to believe my condition could be caused by anything but GERD. Got 2nd opinion at Brigham & Women’s, and finally getting some answers, & it’s not GERD

Dr Shapiro demonstrated excellent professionalism. He understood my anxiety and calmed all my fears. The procedures performed were done with great care. I would highly recommend Dr Shapiro

He may be a good doctor but he is arrogant, demeaning and his staff reflects his attitude.
I'd go elsewhere.

Shapiro performed a colonoscopy on me 20 years ago. I had received radiation treatments for cancer and was having bowl problems. He knew about my radiation, yet injured me during the procedure. A doctor can make a mistake. But what was appalling was his indifference toward my resultant suffering. He literally told me there was nothing that I could do and I would have to live it. Another doctor thought differently. I was disabled for 3 years because of what he did and it impacted me financially.
