Fabulous Doctor and Surgeon! Very caring, talented and informative!
Virginia Beach, Va |
Dr. Payne has no beside manner at all. He doesn't even knock on the door to come in. He has this nonchalant attitude. He would never give me a real diagnosis of what I had. He just kept beating around the bush. I felt like he just wanted me to jeep coming back. Please don't ever receive a cortisone injection from him...... my gosh. That thing sent fire sensations to my shoulder which made the pain worse.

It was great

I saw Dr. Payne for a painful and swollen knee which hindered walking. I found him to be curt, disinterested and after a cursory look at X-ray, determined a steroid injection would solve the problem. No explanation as to what was wrong. I was out of his office in less than 8 minutes hobbling to the parking lot. A visit to another doctor for a 2nd opinion 3 days later identified a torn meniscus. Dr. Payne didn't take the time nor interest in formulating the correct diagnosis.

The Doctor was good, his staff...not so much. Went in with severe knee pain. The Doctor took the time to show me some knee MRI's and what my problem likely was. He sent me for an MRI and it was discovered I had a torn meniscus. Cortisone shot, Mobic and I was out the door. The front desk staff is rude and the get to you when the get to you. Nurse was indifferent. I overheard one nurse getting annoyed with a man in a office issued wheelchair. She said "Can't you just walk this far please?

Absolutely no beside manner. Unwilling to address the reason I was sent in the first place. His decision was made before he had even met me. Would have appreciated his at least shaking hands upon his exiting the exam room or at least have said nice to meet you. Just told me his surgery day and had an assistant give me a knee surgery booklet as he walked down the hall to another exam room.

Dr. Payne was pleasant but never really conducted a thorough exam of my knee and never looked at my other knee for comparison. He was great about conducting x-rays and ordering an MRI early on. After 16 weeks and at my third visit he said my x-rays were fine and he did not need to see me again. this was despite the fact that my knee was swollen and I was struggling to walk on it. I would not recommend him as a ortho doctor or surgeon. The office staff was very nice and facilities were great.

Ray was clearly the worst Doctor I have ever had the displeasure of seeing. Beyond a complete misdiagnosis, lack of urgency and total disregard for the referral doctor's X-ray and recommendations Ray was rude, dismissive and disrespectful. At his hand due to a lack of being responsive I became unable to walk and receive a timely diagnosis resulting in paralysis. I have steered all of my friends and associates away from Ray.

He's not a man of many words but he's compassionate and caring. I'm glad we found him.

Dr. Payne misdiagnosed me for over a year of visits. The orthopedist I went to after him diagnosed me correctly within the first five minutes.
