Dr. Falcone graduated from Morristown High School in Morristown, New Jersey. He then attended Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. He was awarded a Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 1990 and completed a four-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the State of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn/ Kings County Hospital Center, receiving his certificate in 1994. During the final year of his residency, he served as chief resident in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Kings County Hospital Center, Downstate Medical Center, Maimonides Medical Center and Coney Island Hospital all of which are in Brooklyn, New York In June 1995, Dr. Falcone completed a postdoctoral Fellowship in Facial Cosmetic and Temporomandibular Joint Surgery sponsored by the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Part of the yearlong fellowship program was spent in South America, first in Colombia with "Healing the Children" on a medical mission to treat cleft lip and palate anomalies. Later, in Caracas, Venezuela, Dr. Falcone performed surgery for patients with dentofacial and craniofacial deformities. The remainder of the year was spent performing temporomandibular joint surgery at Staten Island Hospital in New York for four months and facial cosmetic and otolaryngology surgery at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey, for three months. Dr. Falcone was board certified in March 1996 by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and has achieved Diplomate status. He was also re-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in November 2004 and November 2014; passing the mandatory re-certification examination, which is required every 10 years. Subsequently, Dr. Falcone became a Diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology in March of 2005 by successfully completing their challenging certification examination. In addition, Dr. Falcone is a former Clinical Instructor and Attending Surgeon at the State of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn / Kings County Hospital Center, where he taught oral & maxillofacial surgery residents the most technologically advanced surgical techniques. He was also a mock board examiner for the Metropolitan New York Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Programs to better prepare these residents for their board certification exams. The Pennsylvania Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons have appointed Dr. Falcone (in conjunction with the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry) as an Office Anesthesia Evaluator. He inspects dental offices that provide anesthesia (oral sedation, IV sedation, nitrous oxide and general anesthesia) to their patients, to make sure the proper standards of care are followed. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology as well as the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. In addition, Dr. Falcone is a member of the Pennsylvania Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Many awards have been bestowed upon Dr. Falcone. Nationally, Wish upon a Hero has acknowledged the extraordinary generosity and philanthropic support, compassion and humanitarianism of Dr. Falcone to his patients by presenting him with an award and having WYLN- Channel 35 report a feature story on one of their newscasts in 2009. He also has been voted "Man of the Year" for 2007 by the American Biographical Institute, USA. Dr. Falcone has received plaques from the State of Pennsylvania and National Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped for oral and maxillofacial services that he has performed. The Consumer's Research Council of America in Washington, D.C. has named Dr. Falcone as one of America's top dentists in the specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery. The Best of the U.S. in Birmingham, Alabama has elected Dr. Falcone one of the best oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the United States. Internationally, the International Biographical Centre in Cambridge, England has honored him as one of the 2000 Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st Century. In addition, Dr. Falcone has received the "Mencion de Honor" from the Republic of Colombia-State of Meta for his work with cleft lip and palate patients. Locally, Dr. Falcone has received multiple Certificates of Recognition from the American Cancer Society-Greater Hazleton Unit. He was given an award from the Big Brothers and Big Sisters for outstanding service to children and was presented a plaque for serving as President of the Hazleton Area Dental Society for the year 2000. Dr. Falcone is well respected in the specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery, as well in the planning and placement of dental implants. He has given many lectures on these topics, both locally and nationally. In fact, Dr. Falcone has been placed on the Speaker Board for Nobel Biocare, Inc. (the world's largest dental implant company) and has even been on television! He has appeared for WYLN on the American Cancer Society Telethon in the Greater Hazleton area multiple times. Also, he was a panelist on WVIA's "Call the Doctor" show dealing with dental implants and cosmetic dentistry. In addition, Dr. Falcone has appeared on "The Sam Lesante Show" on Local Channel 13 to discuss children's dental health issues. Dr. Falcone has been a member of our medical community since 1996, practicing oral and maxillofacial surgery at Falcone Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, P.C. here in Hazleton. He has continued the legacy of Dr. Eugene Koval and Dr. Charles J. Getter which started in the mid 1960's. Dr. Falcone's practice is the oldest oral and maxillofacial surgery practice in the Hazleton Area. He holds a staff appointment at the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton and sees patients by appointment in his office. Dr. Falcone has made a commitment to provide quality medical, dental and surgical care in the Greater Hazleton Area as well as all of Northeast Pennsylvania.
