Dr. Ryan's bio

This content was provided by Dr. Ryan "A Health Care Partnership Dr. Ryan is a specialist in Internal Medicine who is committed to partnering with her patients for the best in personalized health care. "I went into internal medicine because I enjoy working with people," she says. "I think patient education is important because it empowers people to take care of themselves. Diabetes can be a life-changing diagnosis, for example, and when people understand the disease and know how certain medications work, it's easier for them to make the life changes they need to make for their best health." Primary Care & More Dr. Ryan is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She completed her residency training at the University of Connecticut, where she served an additional year as chief resident. She joined Associated Physicians in 2011. In addition to providing comprehensive primary and preventive health care for adults at all stages of life, Dr. Ryan has a special interest in bone health and in diagnosing and treating chronic, serious and rare health conditions. "One of the rewards of internal medicine is putting medical skills to work to help people." Doctor-Patient Relationships The mother of two teenagers, Dr. Ryan lives in Madison and is a member of the Sierra Club. She says the supportive team environment of Associated Physicians is a great fit for her life and her medical practice. "The doctors here are highly competent physicians and we have a high level of training in our nursing staff," she explains. "Associated Physicians has made a commitment to patient care. When we admit our patients to the hospital, for example, we continue to see them ourselves. We are dedicated to expert continuity of care, and this is reflected in everything we do." "

I'm in my mid-50s. Have seen my share of doctors (annual physicals, nothing major). Dr. Ryan, hands down, is the BEST doctor I've ever seen. She's smart, listens, and has great advice. If I ever move, I will fly back to Madison just to see her.

I've been a patient of hers for several years now. I like her collaborative approach; the patient's suggestions, questions, and concerns are factored into your treatment plan. In fact, her biggest attribute could be a source of frustration: because she will give you more time if necessary, her appointments can run over. I simply factor in a potential delay in start time when scheduling. Once you're in the exam room, the wait is a brief one.

Dr. Ryan was on call at Associated Physicians when I developed vertigo. She was very personable and courteous, and made an accurate conclusion as to the reason for the problem after a series of questions. She put me through some simple, but conclusive in-office tests and made a recommendation to see an appropriate therapist. One treatment by the therapist and I was cured of the issue. She was wonderful, especially since I was unable to see my own doctor.
