I agree with the others who say he will not look up from his computer. I've never seen a physician who was so lacking in compassion or concern. I have never left a review about a physician but I determined after my wasted appointments that I would get on here to warn others to find a different neurologist. I hope against hope that maybe enough negative reviews will make Dr. Alam reconsider how he deals with his patients.

High five to the previous comment of Dr. Alam being more interested in his computer than the patient. I can google and lookup stuff too. If you want someone to fill your prescriptions, only ask if your symptoms have changed and not test your physical strength or motor skills then he's your guy. I'd personally rather have someone that is interested in if I'm getting better/worse from a neuromuscular disorder, and one that stays on top of new developments or research studies in the medical field.

He is more interested in his computer; his staff do not return phone calls! He miss reads patient notes. I called five times about a problem it was over two weeks before they returned a call still did not get an answer from Doctor I do not recommend this person to my neighbors dog !

Here is something that doesn't happen everyday. I was scheduled to have a sleep study last night as ordered by Dr. Alam's office in Carbondale. I was scheduled to arrive at 8 pm at 400 Lincoln drive in Herrin. I arrived about 7:45pm only to be greeted by a dark, locked, and empty building. I waited till about 8:15pm thinking maybe someone would show up but they never did. Not very professional.

He is always professional, listens carefully to concerns, orders appropriate tests (but does not OVER-test), makes difficult diagnoses, sees you quickly if needed, and prescribes symptomatic relief when cures are not possible. He has been my neurologist since 2000 and I am grateful to have such a highly qualified and caring doctor.
