Dr. Gwathmey Performed a labrel tear surgery in feb 2017 now its feb 2018 and the pain is ten times worst than before the surgery. With no end in sight. Dr. Gwathmey wiped his hands clean of me because the surgery went bad. I recommend to anyone needing this surgery to look for someone else. Unfriendly and unprofessional. Worst of all he made my Condition to where I cant walk on my own and I could before the surgery.

Several months have passed, and this doctor wasn't able to figure out why my leg is still swelling, and why I'm experiencing pain, weakness, and loss of mobility. Finally, a physical therapist, was able to determine that I'd developed chronic trigger points after the surgery. Now I'm having to pay more money to receive injections from an Anesthesiologist in Pain Management. I've suffered in pain, lost mobility and months of my life unnecessarily! I wish I'd never had him perform this procedure.

Could not have had a better experience. Takes time to explain options. When I finally decided on surgery things went very smoothly. The best decision I've made in a long time. The pain is gone! Thanks Dr. Gwathmey!

Rare, HUMBLE, board certified, orthopedic surgeon w/BEDSIDE MANNER. Skilled, direct, PERSONABLE, & well studied. Challenges patients 2 research him & their condition for best possible outcome. CARES ~ called to waylay concerns pre-op & PERSONALLY called post-op. Desires success ~ met my PT, Rodney, to guarantee I was in good hands. Fashionable - the surgical camouflage Wellingtons, wow! Cautious ~ takes patients w/greatest likelihood of success. If blessed with "yes" then you're blessed enough!

Dr. Gwathmey is a very nice physician. He's polite, listens patiently, and has always answered my questions thoroughly. He has a great bed side manner, and I love his sense of humor. I've had 10 or more appointments with Dr. Gwathmey, and he's always been consistently friendly, and spent at least 20-30 minutes with me during each of these visits. Also, he has always been willing to work me in, even when his schedule was fully booked. I highly respect and appreciate Dr. Gwathmey.

He gave me a 3 min examination. Clearly he did not care much about my condition and I am not really sure if in those 3 minutes he gave me the correct diagnosis. When I asked more info, he told me that I could read some pieces of paper that he printed out from the Internet.

My 12 year old daughter dislocated her knee cap, tore her MPFL, and severed a piece of her femur in the process. When all circumstances in Lynchburg for 11 days led us to Dr. G. he, knowing the severity of her injury, fit us in his schedule on a Thursday, then cleared 4 hours of OR time for the next day to get her surgery done. He not only used plastic screws to avoid future surgery, but he did a quadricep-turn down to create a new ligament. Here we are 6 months out and she is good as new.
