Dr. Eric Lee, MD
"The most gratifying thing about practicing medicine is making a meaningful difference in patients' lives. It goes without saying that healthy vision is essential to enjoying life to the fullest. Saving or maintaining someone's sight, especially for older people whose physical activity may be limited, is so incredibly rewarding." After graduating from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering, Dr. Lee continued his education at the university's School of Medicine as a member of the Honors Program in Medical Education, from which he received his Doctor of Medicine degree. He began his post-graduate training with an internship at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine's Department of Medicine, followed by a residency with the Mayo Clinic Department of Ophthalmology. He completed his fellowship in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at the UCLA School of Medicine, where he received the Abe Meyer Memorial Fellow Award. Dr. Lee is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is licensed in the states of California, Maryland and Virginia and in the District of Columbia. Prior to joining The Retina Group of Washington, he spent three years with the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group in Washington, D.C. Throughout his medical career, Dr. Lee has participated in numerous research projects. He was an investigator in clinical trials including the Early Age-Related Macular Degeneration Lesion Study, Dexamethasone Injections in the Treatment of Diabetic Macular Edema and the Effects of Fenretinide on the Treatment of Age-Related Macular Degeneration. He has also co-authored many articles for peer-reviewed publications such as Archives of Ophthalmology, Eye and Seminars in Ophthalmology and has presented his research at several national meetings.

Patient Comments (2)
Manassas, VA |
Dr. Lee and his entire support staff in Manassas are committed to serving patients in the most supportive way possible. I've been taking my 85-year old mother to Dr. Lee for several months. He is unfailingly kind and gentle with her, preserving her dignity and considerate of her limitations. There are frequently wait times between tests and exams, but the service is worth waiting for. He explains courses and frequency of treatment, as well as expected outcomes, in clear terms.

Horrific wait times - 3 and 1/2 hours to get in the exam room - that's just plain wrong. Excuse was new computer system. NOT a valid excuse - shut down, train and the reopen. OR conversely, don't book so many patients if you know it will create wait times of more than 1 hour. I think Dr Lee is a very competent person but his staff is somewhat unprofessional - lots of personal discussions going on at the front desk for ALL to hear. Laughing and cutting up, like teenagers.
