I have a rare cancer. I already had one tumor removed from my pancreas and felt I had continuing symptoms of the same cancer - neuroendocrine cancer. After a few tests that I discovered later were outdated, Dr. Friedman treated me like a hypochondriac and actually asked me “Do you want cancer”? “Neuroendocrine Cancer” was listed as a specialty of hers. Upon further research I found an expert in Colorado. I could not afford to see him, but he was still kind enough to guide me. He referred me to a study at NIH where they found the second NET (neuroendocrine tumor) in my small intestines. It was surgically removed - a second primary. Dr. F made me feel ashamed for seeking care and could have cost me my life.

From my very first appointment, I felt secure that I had the best doctor. She always takes her time explaining things to me. She answers all of my questions and never makes me feel that's she too busy to answer me or that my questions are ridiculous. When I have any issues she very quickly takes action, if needed. She and her staff are always welcoming and make me feel like they are all glad to see me.

Dr. Friedman is the 2nd hematologist I have seen and SO MUCH better than the 1st. She is incredibly kind, knowledgeable and supportive. She has gone out of her way to work with 2 other specialists that I see to help manage/address surgeries and other conditions with them. I would 100% recommend her to anyone looking for a hematologist!

Unfortunately, my strong recommendation is to find another oncologist. Dr. Friedman began the first oncology appointment with "So.. you know what you have, right?" She was not up-to-date on the latest meta-analyses for the chemotherapy treatments she recommended, making her either misinformed or dishonest about the actual numbers. She did not explain pancreatic cancer, and was not forthright about the symptoms of the treatment. I recommend finding a more ethical, non-profit cancer institute.
