Background Check

2 Malpractice Claims
  • Settlement : 8/5/2013
Nature of Complaint: OUT OF STATE CLAIM: CA. Reported by the North Carolina Medical Board INCIDENT LOCATION: SALINAS, CA PRACTITIONER COMMENTS: The patient's Orthopedic operations were "doomed to fail"- Right Back and Right Knee:1. Sacroiliac joint stabilization, Knee arthroscopy with,2. Excision of plica,3. Debridement meniscus, and 4. Tibial Osteotomies. These procedures were not indicated in this patient. Problems related to these failed procedures required an emergency transfer to a higher level of care: As a "Good Samaritan", I accepted this emergency transfer. From these complex procedures there were associated complications. A A SFA- Popliteal bypass with reverse Greater Saphenous Vein plus Prophylactic Fasciotomies were successful. Unfortunately there was residual nerve damage (from the drilling and screws) which resulted in foot drop. See attached for full explanation.
