Dr. Edward W. Song, MD

Dr. Edward W. Song, MD

Orthopedic Spine Surgery | Male | 43 years old

I chose to be a doctor because I wanted to spend my life making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. When choosing a specialty, I wanted to find something that I would find fulfilling. Spine surgery is intellectually challenging and I love a good challenge. I am most satisfied by correcting spinal deformities and doing complicated revisions. There is nothing like reconstructing a patient's spine and giving them their quality of life back. I spend a lot of my time counseling my patients so they feel informed and confident in the treatment course that we decide on. I am committed to making sure I have exhausted every other approach before recommending the operating room.Read more

I was referred too Dr. Song by a fellow college (Dr. Dwight Keller). On my first visit with Dr. Song I was quite unsure of having my back operated on, even though Dr. Keller had had the exact same procedure done to his back. Dr. Song was all business on our first meeting and took the time need to explain exactly what was involved in the procedure and made me feel comfortable with what he would be doing. Dr. Song's professional demeanor put my concerns aside and helped me make the right decision.

Waited two months to see Dr Song. Heard all wonderful things about what a great doctor he is. He came in the room and promptly announced he wouldn't take me as a patient since I was in litigation from a car accident. What?? I'm using my health insurance to pay him, I have something wrong with me and you won't see me? I asked him to disregard the litigation, just be my doctor and please get to my issue and he refused. Staff was great, found it a sad situation. Left me hanging. I left in tears.

Saw Song early Nov after failed double lumbar fusion by diff surgeon, he wanted CT done (had a one month old MRI). This delayed planned revision till Dec, then his incompetent staff could not schedule surgery until March - Song's first opening. Told I'd get exact date by early Jan. Had ZERO contact from his staff, my calls were brushed off. Changed surgeons, had surgery done - successfully - in 5 weeks, not 5 months. Song was unpersonable, uncaring, his staff most incompetent ever seen.

Dr. Song is straightforward, honest, and will explain your condition and any procedures you may need. He is diligent with the follow up should you need surgery, and consistent in his routine.

Why Does Experience Matter?

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.
