A realistic goal is not to take all your pain away, although that happens sometimes. But it is to take enough of the pain away so that you can function, with your pain, in spite of your pain. Safety is always my number one goal. The less opiates (narcotic pain medicine) that you are on, the safer you are. For that reason I always try to minimize the amount of opiates you are taking. But I do believe in doing what has to be done and do my best to minimize your pain. I find that in the majority of patients, various injections are helpful. Injections are also tests which help me to learn more about your specific pain condition. I look at injections as a way to keep your pain medicine working. When you need hope, we are promised that in the new world there will be no pain there. We are told that "he that endures to the end, the same shall be saved." My goal: help you to endure. "
