The office visit was simple enough, but if you are seeing anybody at UCSF Colorectal Surgery, pick any doctor besides Dr. Kim. He and his assistant Kathy do not return voicemails, answer phones, or respond to emails. I was seen two months ago and told I need surgery and will be called next week. Two months later I get a call that I'm scheduled for surgery in two days, after trying to follow up several times with questions. They don't even respond to the UCSF clinic regarding scheduling.

What could be improved
  • Difficult to schedule appointment
  • Staff wasn't friendly
  • Appointment was rushed
  • Didn't listen or answer questions
  • Didn't explain conditions well
  • Didn't trust the provider's decisions

Dr. Kim performed a difficult and successful surgery (lower anterior resection) and the outcome was very good. I'm still cancer free and able to live a normal life. He engaged with my oncologist to insure that I didn't get radiation treatment which could have rendered me incontinent. He was approachable and took time to understand me and my situation.
