I searched for a shoulder specialist all over the midwest. I travel over 180 miles to see this Doctor. 1 year ago this week my right shoulder had not worked for almost a year. My shoulder, which "could not be fixed", was indeed fixed by Dr Joy. Now it works at over 90%. Dr Joy and his staff literally changed my life for the better. He is patient, kind, very concerned about myself and my family, and incredibly sensitive to my needs and complex medical conditions. I HIGHLY recommend!

Dr. JOY is AWESOME! I felt truly cared for, he is extremely knowledgeable, and is just super cool on top of it. His xray tech, Carli, is also awesome. I can't say enough good things about the total experience. Thank You!!

Dr. Joy was patient, caring and positive. He asked me on a scale of 1-10 how severe did I thought my rotator cuff injury was...I thought probably a 5 or 6. He said no it’s closer to a 9 not good. He then asked if I would give him autonomy to do whatever was necessary. Of course just fix my shoulder. I followed his specific instructions for recovery and therapy precisely. I made a complete 100% recovery and now call him my friend. He is awesome and gifted. 5 stars from me.

Fell on my driveway and had a massive rotator cuff tear. Dr Joy fixed my shoulder and surprisingly had minimal pain after the operation. Followed all his instructions, went to therapy, feeling great and working on getting back to normal. Dr Joy exuded knowledge and confidence of my condition. I recommend Dr. Joy and his staff to anyone. He is a skilled orthopaedic surgeon.

Dr. Joy did my bicep tendon surgery in November 2017. I was 72 yrs. young, I did very well!! Patience is a virtue as he kept telling me! He explained procedure throughly! Occupational therapy was my toughest post-op part!! I would have him again, but I hope that isn’t necessary!! Also Pete was always a support, and up beat! They were a great team!

First visit went well. Returning in 2 wks., I found him to be indecisive about different problem I was experiencing. Upon the third visit, he walked in and shortly realized he was with the wrong patient and left the room. When he returned, he was more unsure about what was wrong with me, told me there was nothing he could do for me, but if not feeling better, to return in three wks. There is no way I would return to this doctor. Recommending him to others would be out of the question!

Dr. Joy was one of the best doctors I have ever had. His skills and knowledge were second to none. I was having a difficult time getting into outside therapy sessions because of the V.A., but he kept on seeing me until my physical therapy was done.

I had surgery last November to repair my torn rotator cuff. I had heard from friends that it would be a painful and long recovery after the surgery. Thanks to the great care I received from Dr. Joy and his staff, my recovery was much easier. I would definitely recommend Dr. Joy!

I found Dr Joy to be very friendly and welcoming, which I always look for especially in a specialist. He did a thorough exam, reviewed my xrays explained the condition of my shoulder very well using displays and suggested different methods of treatment. After listening to my wife and I explain our current status with other surgeries (for my wife) needing to be done before my shoulder could be taken cars of we decided upon a steroid injection for some temporary relief. I will be back.

Dr. Joy performed rotator cuff surgery on me twice. I was well on my way to healing when I suffered a fall, re-injuring the shoulder. Dr. Joy's care and compassion was unmatched. T Both surgeries went extremely well. Because of Dr. Joy's skill, I have made a full recovery. My 2nd surgery was on Dec. 31. Dr. Joy was not on call on New Year's day, but he called me himself to assure that I was doing well and to make sure there was nothing I needed. He is an outstanding, caring physician.

If you are looking for someone to perform surgery, Dr. Joy is one of the best. However, if you have chronic pain, not so much. I have had to apply for disability (which I spoke to him about on my last visit 3 - 4 months ago) because of chronic pain and swelling. The state was told that medical records can't be released, so I called. There's 1 person who copies the records and he comes in once a month. Message line has been full and you can't talk to the rest of the staff. REALLY? I'm disgusted.

Dr. Joy and his staff were sincerely kind and caring when working with my 91 year old Mother. They clearly explained things to her. Dr. Joy was very gentle and careful when examining her. His solution to her problem was perfect for her age and need. Our visit was a positive experience and I would recommend Dr. Joy.
