I was surprised by the lack of professionalism by Dr. Harker. He yawned the whole appointment. He had other people's charts laying out in the open so I could see them. He kept telling jokes. I don't feel like he helped me at all. At my last visit he basically said he didn't know what was causing my issues and that was all he could do for me. I basically spent a lot of money to learn nothing.

He lacked warmth and had a very flat affect, which is never something I look for in a healthcare provider. When he called my name while I was in the waiting room, I had to stand there next to him for 10 seconds while he was talking to someone before he even looked at me, let alone shaking my hand and introducing himself. On my follow up, he asked me to tell him what my symptoms were again, which I found funny since we literally spent a whole consultation appointment discussing exactly that???

Mission Statement

I take seriously the wording of my board certification certificate: I am a diplomat for Neurology. I will use my skills, knowledge, and experience to inform and educate Neurology patients and the larger community, and strive to heal those with neurological disease.

Vision Statement

My other roles and experiences will provide perspective and empathy in my role as a physician. For example, my international exposure may make it easier to connect with those from different cultures and backgrounds, my missionary experiences will facilitate communication and an emphasis on finding common ground, my lifelong involvement in team sports will facilitate cooperation and perseverance, and my role as the father of several children will prompt continued patience and service. My experiences outside of work will provide the understanding and context necessary to be an effective physician and participate more fully in the healing of both hearts and minds. As such, I hope to become a colleague of choice, and to set an example that my children can follow.
