This content was provided by Dr. Borer "Dr. Drake Borer is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in orthopedic trauma surgery in Austin, Texas. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FAAOS) and a member of the Orthopedic Trauma Association, Texas Medical Association, Texas Orthopedic Association, and Travis County Medical Society. Dr. Borer has sustained traumatic orthopedic injuries of his own, giving him the unique perspective as both a patient and a surgeon. He has a passion for patient care, especially for patients who have suffered complex trauma. Having grown up on the island of St. Thomas in the Caribbean, Dr. Borer came to Texas for college and medical school. He attended Rice University in Houston for his undergraduate degree and earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. After medical school, Dr. Borer focused on orthopedic surgery, pursuing both his residency training as well as a fellowship in complex trauma at UT Southwestern. He worked as an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery before eventually opening an orthopedic surgery practice with a former colleague in Austin in 2003. He joined Texas Orthopedics in 2016. Dr. Borer is an active member of the teaching faculty of Dell Medical School's Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program where he is working to advance the field of musculoskeletal care and training the next generation of physicians and surgeons."
