Dr. Douglas Won, director and founder of SpineCARE, is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon, board-certified by The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Chosen as one of America's Top Orthopedist/Spine Surgeons by Research Consumers' Council of America, he provides the most comprehensive methods of minimally invasive and endoscopic (camera-assisted) laser spine surgeries available to treat cervical, thoracic and lumbar disorders. Dr. Won uses cuttingedge surgical techniques to avoid traditional, open back and neck fusion surgeries. Dr. Won attended medical school at the University of Texas, Galveston, TX and completed his residency in orthopedics at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. He was fellowship-trained in orthopedicspine and neuro-spine at William Beaumont Spine Center, Royal Oak, MI, and in deformaties of the spine at Washington University, St. Louis. His dual-fellowship training is recognized as the highest level in spine surgery training. Dr. Won was the first surgeon in Texas to perform Micro-Invasive endoscopic laser spine surgery with a 3mm incision. This procedure is performed without general anesthesia, and the patient is able to walk out of the surgery center within a few hours. The incision does not need any stitches and only requires a BAND-AID®. With minimal blood loss and fast recovery, the patient may return to work in just a few days. Dr. Won also recognizes that surgery is not always the best option and uses the latest nonsurgical methods to treat neck and back pain prior to exploring surgical options. In fact, 95 percent of his patients improve through nonsurgical treatment. A member of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, North American Spine Society, and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), Dr. Won is active in research and development of innovative spine care. He has been published in numerous scientific journals and textbooks, and has lectured internationally on all aspects of spinal disorders. He has also developed new minimally invasive spine surgery techniques, as well as state-of-the-art minimally invasive surgical devices, to treat spinal disorders. Dr. Won appeared regularly as a medical expert for ABC / WFAA-TV, CBS Radio, The Marty Griffin Show on 1080 KRLD, Sunday Morning Magazine with Mark Willis on FM. 103.7 KVIL and FM 106.7 KDL. Additionally, he is a clinical assistant professor at the UT Southwestern Medical School. He continues to lecture and train other spine surgeons around the world in the latest minimally invasive techniques.

Care Philosophy

This content was provided by Dr. Won "Another difference between us and them is our innovative pain-mapping techniques. Designed to address your individual needs utilizing state-of-the-art tools, pain mapping is a groundbreaking process in which we can pinpoint and isolate the exact source and location of your pain, thus allowing us to treat only the specific area in the least invasive way possible. When a nerve becomes irritated or inflamed, it can cause severe pain in many areas of the body. Often MRIs or CT scans are not adequate enough to find the exact nerve pain source. But at MISI, we use real time X-ray injections filled with medication to find the specific nerve causing the pain, a procedure that is highly successful and rare to find among our peers, as it must be performed by a trained physician."

I think he is a great doctor and very competent but need to spend more time with patients.

Dr Won and his staff were the most compassionate group of physicians. We were treated with great respect and compassion all through out the evaluation and treatment process. They were very thorough and explained clearly how we can get better. My severe pain caused by bulging disc was treated with laser surgery and I was discharged to home in an hour after my surgery. We are very happy with the result. I can't believe I waited so long to have the surgery. My family is very happy as well.

Great surgeon with great staff. Takes time to go over the conditions and all the treatment options. I was able to get better without surgery. After couple of injections, my pain was GONE.

Dr. Won and his staff were great. I would highly recommend them to any patients. He was recommended by my cardiologist who had both his neck and back surgery with him. My cardiologist, who is in his late 60s, is a very active individual; he could have gone to anyone, but had surgery with Dr. Won because he was the best. I had a micro surgery by Dr won and went home the same day. It's been over 6 years and I still don't have any pain. I play golf and tennis and enjoying my retirement.

Caring and compassionate. Dr. Won is an incredibly gifted surgeon!

I was very scared to let anyone operate on my back but I was tired of the pain. After much research I chose Dr. Won. I believe that the use of stem cells help me to recover much faster. Looking back 3 years ago, past surgery, the recovery was much easier than I had expected. If I had to do it again, I would not hesitate for Dr. Won to preform the surgery.
