Dr. Evans' bio

This content was provided by Dr. Evans "C. Douglas Evans, MD is a specialist in Cataract and Refractive Surgery as well as disease and surgery of the anterior segment the eye such as glaucoma. He has been in practice with North Suburban Eye Associates on the North Shore of Boston since 1993 and serves as the managing partner and owner of the practice. Under his leadership the practice has grown from a single office solo practice to one with three offices in Wakefield, Winchester and Beverly and a professional staff of three full-time ophthalmologists, three full-time optometrists and five part-time ophthalmic subspecialists. His tenure also coincided with the collaborative development of the North Shore Cataract and Laser Center located in Stoneham which provides convenient high quality outpatient ambulatory eye surgery. Dr. Evans received his undergraduate education at Columbia University in New York, where he was a Josiah Macy fellow and was awarded the Charles A. Huebschman prize in science. He graduated from Dartmouth (Geisel) Medical School where he stayed on to complete an internship in internal medicine prior to completing an ophthalmology residency at the State University of New York, Upstate Medical Center. Dr. Evans served for four years with the United States air Force as an ophthalmologist based in the United Kingdom as well as MacDill AFB, Tampa, Florida prior to settling in Massachusetts. Dr. Evans' practice is heavily geared toward cataract and refractive surgery and his surgical volume has remained one of the highest among ophthalmic surgeons in Metro Boston for a number of years. He has been certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology since 1991; he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, as well as the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons and the American Medical Association.
