Dr. McCarren's bio

This content was provided by Dr. McCarren "Being the son of a family involved in health care for greater than 50 years has imbued me with the need and desire to practice medicine. Having trained in Philadelphia for all of my medical career has exposed me to multiple cultures and ethnicities that has enhanced my practice of Neurology and given me insight into the care of all types of individuals. I am the oldest of four with my two sisters being in the medical field and my brother being a lawyer and financial planner. Unfortunately, this modern age has scattered my siblings about the country but we still find ways to get together for most holidays. I have been married to my wife Sarah for 30 years and have been together since her freshman year at Vanderbilt University in 1983. We have 2 children, Connor and Shannon, ages 25 and 23 and a dog- Callie who is still a puppy. Connor works for SAP and Shannon is running her own business relating to healthcare- Dr. Don's Care Packages. Being 55, I plan to practice for years to come and hope to remain independent! I still believe that Neurology is the best field of medicine (obvious bias) and I still enjoy the practice of medicine."

Overall a great doctor...but comes from a history of horrible office staff. His receptionist Joanne is extremely insensitive to patients need, is rude, and reduces all appeal to see Dr. McCareen...she does not seem to understand the urgency of some neurological conditions and will prohibit you...more
