I consider it a privilege to care for many patients with diabetes. I learn so much from their optimism and resiliency in caring for themselves with this chronic disease. I have been at Duke over 25 years. My husband and I have four children who have been raised in Durham and attended Durham Public Schools. Three of my children have graduated from medical school -- two specialized in internal medicine. I am an avid Duke sports fan and we named our last child Cameron (not only because of Cameron Indoor Stadium!). I remain hopeful that a cure will occur in the near future for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
