Dr. Mello's Care Philosophy

Dr. Dennis Mello's areas of expertise include pediatric and adult congenital cardiac surgery. He graduated from Yale University and attended the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree. He completed a five year general surgery residency at the University of Connecticut and a two year cardiothoracic surgery residency at the University of California, San Francisco. He remained at the University of California, San Francisco to complete an additional two year fellowship in pediatric and congential cardiac surgery. Prior to joining Ochsner's staff, Dr. Mello served as the Director of Pediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiac Surgery at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center and as a staff surgeon at Yale New Haven Hospital for nine years. Dr. Mello is board certified in general and cardiothoracic surgery.
