Care Philosophy

This content was provided by Dr. Abell "Dermatology & Cosmetic Skin Care is a family oriented practice. We serve the  young to the very elderly. Toys and dolls for the kids. Comfortable chairs and couches for you to relax and occasionally snooze while waiting to be called. Yes....sometimes there is a wait. There is a TV for those who want to catch up on their shows and local news. We are not a sleek plastic surgery office or a sterile hospital waiting room. Think Grandmother's house on Thanksgiving Day. There's lots of laughter and we love what we do.

We do enjoy doing cosmetic procedures such as Botox and Fillers but that is not our primary focus. Medical and surgical dermatology is 90% of our practice. We do not hesitate to refer to a plastic surgeon or Moh's surgeon if the patient outcome is improved by that referral.

We appreciate patient feedback. We are always striving to improve."

Office & Staff Performance

Office environment
Staff friendliness
Average wait time
16 to 30 minutes
Dr. Abell Says:

Long waits are a common complaint in the office. Insurance companies restrict how much time can be spent with patients. Unforeseen events occur. The session that should have lasted fifteen minutes goes to thirty. An elderly woman takes longer to dress or a patient on aspirin bleeds after a procedure. These delays are cumulative. If you are the last one scheduled, you will probably be delayed. We are always working on this never

I was pleasantly surprised with how friendly the staff was here. I had no problem scheduling an appointment and getting in to see the doctor. The wait time was normal for any doctors office. Dr. Abell was very knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable during my visit. She took her time and...more

My daughter, husband & I all had neg. experiences w/this Dr. First, a 45 mins to an hour wait is normal. Going early doesn't help. Then, in 2014, out-of-the-blue, we received letters from a COLLECTION AGENCY (me: $60/husband: $25) dating back to 2012 for copays! IMPOSSIBLE as you can't leave the...more

Very difficult to schedule appointments when they close at 4:00 and the answering machine does not pick up when they are closed. I am typically not able to be on my phone in the middle of a weekday to try to call during their office hours. Carolyn and Amy are very friendly and helpful, but...more

Dr. Abell and Amy take the time to explain things, they document and photograph so they can efficiently monitor your moles. I’ve been to other dermatologists that only quickly scan and take no photos. They may run behind on their schedule, but every specialty office does. And they always apologize...more
