Dr. Cestari recently performed a Strabismus surgery, and the outcome was far better than I'd imagined. I am a complex case, having a detached retina that required four surgeries and an miraculous but still imperfect outcome given the damage. One significant drawback from those procedures was double-vision that skewed toward different plains of vision. Dr. Cestari and his excellent team corrected the multi-plain challenge and brought the double-vision down to barely noticeable levels, which is extraordinary--I'm using both eyes to see for the first time in 3 years. But what was so gratifying was the time and empathy Dr Cestari demonstrated as we went through 5-6 different ways to approach my case. He was very accommodating that I was reluctant to have surgery on my "good eye", even though the risks were quite remote. He was always looking for potential solutions rather than being dogmatic about the "one correct way." I highly recommend him, and the entire team at MEEI.

Dr. Cestari resolved the double vision I’d been living with for the past 2 years. I’m still amazed that I walked out of the hospital after the procedure with perfect vision! No more eye patches. I can’t thank him enough!!

I have been working with Dr. Cestari for over a year for double vision. We tried the conservative route for a year, which was my decision, and opted for prisms to start. Then after a year of using the glasses, we elected to try the corrective surgery. Dr. Cestari and his team were thoughtful and detailed on the procedure as well as the recovery. He walked me through the whole procedure, prior to the operation date to ensure I was comfortable and understood everything. The day of the procedure as well as the recovery went exactly as planned. I am very pleased with how it all went. Thank you Dr. Cestari and your team at Mass Eye and Ear for your expertise, dedication and support throughout the process. So grateful.

I thought Dr. Cestari was rude and condescending. He left my mother and me feeling like he didn’t care and he didn’t really explain things well. He came in with another dr and didn’t introduce himself or the other dr. My son was with me and he didn’t bother introducing himself. He seemed to be very disinterested and was not helpful at all. I would not recommend him to anyone at all. He was smug and unhelpful. He left me feeling very sad and upset.

I have had double vision due to MS for over 15 years. Dr. Cestari told me how my right eye was 0.5mm lower than my left. He gave me the choice of prisms (which I rejected since I am a contact lens wearer) or surgery. I went for the surgery and am happy to report I can now watch TV without having to adjust my direction of gaze often. I can now read a book more easily. Thank you Dr. Cestari!

I recently had Dr. Dean Cestari perform strabismus surgery after a severe case of thyroid eye disease causing double vision and several other issues since 2014. I am extremely pleased and amazed with the results and the range of single vision he was able to get back after performing the surgery. With surgeons like Dr. Cestari, I am not surprised that the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary rates among the best in the business. Thanks Dr. Cestari for an outstanding result!

I felt welcomed and comfortable at every visit to Dr. Cestari's office. He explained I had adult strabismus. Dr.. Cestari explained how he could repair the problem and what the prognosis would be with or without surgery. He gave me plenty of time to ask questions and he took time to explain everything about the upcoming surgery. H operated on both eyes. The recovery and results are as Dr. Cestari explained to me. I am very satisfied with my whole experience with Dr. Centari and everyone in his office. I now have clear vision.

Hello Everyone, Just want to let Y'all know that Dr. Dean Cestari is very awesome, he cares and treats his patients until successful at the end. I have had hyperthyroidism since 2015, and it only got worse over the years. It began to impact my vision which caused many inconveniences. The doctors that I was seeing were unable to help me, and, after being refused a surgery that the same doctor suggested prior to the years of medications, I never returned again. I was ready to accept complete vision loss and was hesitant to be treated... When I met Dr. Cestari, as appointments were made and constantly changed due to pandemic of Covid-19, I became more anxious and less hopeful. The day of my eye surgery finally came and it was success ! no more double vision. I am now beyond grateful for the care, friendliness, and knowledge of Dr. Cestari and his team. I can thank you enough to you all have changed my life. Sincerely, Vu. L 3/25/2021.

Soooo Happy I found Dr.Cestari! Long story as short as i can make it ??..My son was in a horrible accident which caused him traumatic brain injury. His blow to the head with so bad that it caused him to have diplopia and a couple of other issues with his eyes.his eyes were somewhat cross, one eye kind of bulged out and he had double vision. At the age of 18 my son was very insecure about the appearance of his eyes and the double vision caused him to be unstable when he walked. He had surgery performed by Dr. Cestari. My sons eyes are now aligned, he does not have any more double vision,he is happy and has regained most of his confidence back. I highly recommend Dr.Cestari for anyone who may have a similar problem or to correct crossed eyes. I must add Dr. Cestari is a very nice guy and he has good bedside manner.

Having issues with being cross-eyed for decades I was worried to get my hopes up. However the results have been near perfect, with just a slight deviation only when looking at certain exreme angles. I did require an adjustment right after surgery, which was very disconcerting but manageable. Seeing in 3D after decades is almost magical. Recovery was a bit more painful and awkward than I expected but worth it. Months later still feels a bit strange to look at exreme angles, I can feel the tension on muscles. Very glad I had the procedure done. Dr Cestari was absolutely proffessional. He's busy, and I can understand his schedule. The appointments felt just a tad rushed, but that is being a bit critical on my part, only mentioned as useful feedback.
