What I appreciate about Dr. Weissgold is that he always answers my questions and he is comfortable telling me when it’s outside his expertise. He has offered to help me find someone who can answer. This all takes time. At the end of the exam, when he’s done typing his notes, he will ask “What questions do you have?” At this point, he will take time to respond to your questions and give in-depth answers which you will understand. You just need to ask after he’s done typing. His staff is professional and friendly. If the appointment requires dilation, there is a park to walk in for a few minutes and a bakery across the street. I’m not suggesting you pick your MD this way, I’m just mentioning a way to make the appointment more enjoyable.

I had a piece of metal puncture my eye and damage the retina. Although he repaired the retina, he thoroughly obliterated the sulcus, needlessly, leaving no decent attachment point for an IOL implant. This forced my next surgeon to suture the iol to the iris, a much more difficult task which was not successful. He is ham-handed, to say the least.

Very current in his field. His experience and knowledge are apparent and his explanations are clear and thoughtful. He chooses his words carefully to convey the facts of the situation. He actually reversed a diagnosis he had made many years before based on new information. Highly thought of and respected in the Vermont medical community. He also is in contact with colleagues at other institutions such as Mass Eye & Ear, etc.

I was recommended by Dr Larson. After my exam, Dr Weissgold did a procedure for a tear in the retina on a Fri evening. This procedure was done after he was able to take care of his booked patients. Dr Weissgold saw me the following Sat morning for a follow up visit. He explained very thoroughly everything that I should know. I have a great respect for this Dr. I would recommend him to any one.
