He completed his Orthopedic Residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA and his Fellowship in Shoulder Surgery at Saddleback Memorial Hospital, Irvine, CA. Dr. Tonnies is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and Is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. In addition to practicing General Orthopedics, Dr. Tonnies is trained in state-of-the-art arthroscopic surgeries, ACL Repair, complex shoulder surgeries, sports medicine, and he has established a comprehensive total joint replacement program for his patients. Dr. Tonnies grew up in Lake Milton, Ohio, is an avid mountain climber, and enjoys taking long walks in the woods with his Golden Retriever, Summer. Doctor has an affinity for the beauty of this area and has genuine appreciation for the residents. That is why he chose to return to the Shenango Valley to establish his private medical practice."
