Dr. Tatum is the only psychiatrist that I have been to in the area that will sit and talk with you for over an hour each time I see him. Every shrink I've seen before him will take 10 minutes to talk to me, and not even look me in the eye when I talk. Dr. Tatum is like a psychologist and psychiatrist in one. He is very professional and you can tell he genuinely cares and sympathize with his patients. He is relatable, funny, and very smart. He takes his time explaining everything you are there for-the medicine and his diagnosis. You will not need to see another psychiatrist again as-long as you have the mindset of “I want to get better” If you have that mindset, he will help you to the best of his abilities. Thank you Dr. Tatum.

Dr Tatum was a huge blessing to our family. He is extremely well with kids & we have seen several MD's with no resolve. He was an answered prayer for us. Although we have a long road ahead, we feel at ease knowing he's there to guide us. He not only pays close attention to prescribing the right meds but spent much of his time getting to know us & council us.

I 100% disagree with the ONLY other review. (Dr. Tatum just recently moved to Charlotte...which is probably why there are so few). Dr. T saw our 14 year old son (chronically ill + ADHD). He was diligent, thoughtful and concerned, and he carefully reviewed his list of meds (as a transplant recipient) before prescribing. Today, when I called for a refill, he personally called me back at the end of his day to make sure the meds were working as they should. A+ for us!

He is very condescending and thinks he knows everything. He would rather take you off medications that work, than to keep you on what's working. When he doesn't prescribe your medications that you need he then blocks your primary doctor from writing them and makes you out to be a drug seeker when all you're doing is trying to function.
