This content was provided by Dr. Rader "Dr. David Rader attended Auburn University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He attended medical school at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He moved back to Birmingham in 1985 and entered into private practice at St. Vincent's Hospital Birmingham. He is board certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Rader was a pioneer in the field of laparoscopic surgery, specifically laparoscopic gallbladder removal. He performs laparoscopic hernia repairs on a regular basis, as well as other laparoscopic procedures. He also does a large amount of thyroid and parathyroid surgery in addition to surgery on the breast including mastectomy and sentinel node biopsy for breast cancer. Dr. Rader is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Medical Association of the State of Alabama, the Jefferson County Medical Society and the Southern Society of Clinical Surgeons. He has been elected by his peers to "Best Doctors in America" five years in a row and has been featured in Birmingham Magazine."

Dr. Rader is an excellent surgeon. He has wonderful bedside manner. He not only did my gallbladder surgery but also did my mom's double mastectomy 10 years ago.
