Dr. Oji's bio

This content was provided by Dr. Oji "Dr. David Oji is a board certified and fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in the operative and non-operative treatment of all aspects of foot and ankle disorders. He completed his fellowship at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland under the leadership of Dr. Lew Schon, the former president of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. There he underwent advanced training in the forefront of foot and ankle surgery including total ankle replacements, use of stem cells to promote healing of acute and chronic conditions, non-fusion techniques of great toe arthritis, and complex ankle and foot reconstruction. After fellowship, he spent many years in private practice. During that time, he worked closely with the community and was one of the team physicians for many high schools in the area. As of June of 2017, Dr. Oji has joined the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine as an Assistant Clinical Professor. He has a special focus on treating adolescents and adults with sports-related injuries such as ankle sprains and instability, cartilage lesions, and Achilles tendon injuries using surgery only as a last resort to return the patient to peak athletic form. During his training, he assisted in treating the Baltimore Orioles and amateur ballet dancers. Dr. Oji also took part in conducting advanced biomechanical and clinical research and has written chapters in textbooks with topics ranging from arthroscopic treatment of talar cartilage defects to the diabetic foot. He has expertise in treating complex and simple foot and ankle conditions and trauma, such as bunions, ankle fractures, pilon fractures, congenital coalitions, tendon injuries, hammertoes, arthritic conditions, and flatfeet deformity."

in Pleasanton, CA |
I was very fortunate to have been referred to Dr. Oji from a family friend that he treated for his ankle injury. He took the time to explain what I had and the ways he can treat my injury. I appreciated how he was initially very conservative with my care. Ultimately I needed surgery and I cannot imagine anyone better than Dr. Oji to fix it. I healed up amazingly well and during the process, I really appreciated his empathy and great care.

I went to see him for a second opinion since I wanted an expert opinion from an orthopedic surgeon rather than a podiatrist. He was very thorough, explained things clearly, and I did not feel rushed. It was well worth the visit.
