This visit went very well. I appreciate Dr. Newbern for his ability to offer the facts regarding my knees based on x-rays that were taken at the same visit. Dr. Newbern spent adequate time with me and did not make me feel rushed or short-changed.

Dr. David Newbern has taken care of me for over six years. I was fortunate to have him as my surgeon, for a total hip replacement. I'm always impressed with the amount of time he takes, the details in his questions and his allowance for answering questions. He never rushes me to move on to the next patient, his focus is on me and any concerns I might have. This important attribute many surgeons lack, is Dr. Newbern's greatest gift to his patients!

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Newbern for 5 years. Excellent surgeon. Personality is great and easy to talk with and listens. Is truthful if you need surgery or not. He explains things so that you understand what he is talking about. He did a partial knee replacement and it went great. You do have to wait long but it is worth it. I have family and friends you have used him no complaints. 5 stars.

you wait 2-3 hours to see him. You are lucky if he spends more than 10-15 minutes with you. His staff doesn't return phone calls. I have severe knee pain. He told me it was all in my head and suggested seeing a psychiatrist. He sure kept my money though. He's among the rich and famous. He's lost compassion for patients. He's too busy collecting money from poor folks to pay for his fortunes. "O" in my book. Would not recommend him to see an animal!!!

VERY good surgeon. Have waited up to 2 and 1/2 hours to see him. Exceedingly difficult to get responses from him as he is very busy. Impossible to get a timely appointment when need is urgent.

Very competent, takes time to answer questions, explains exactly what will take place during joint replacement surgery and shows you exactly what the new joint looks like. He explains what to expect after surgery and what you must do before and after surgery. He is precise and delivers all of the information with a smile and a friendly manner. My hip replacement was 4 weeks ago and I'm ahead of schedule. Been driving for 1 week and am walking without any assistance. Joint Acadamey is fabulous.

About Me

Care Philosophy

To provide highly specialized Hip and Knee replacemnt expertise for patients by doing only hip and knee replacement work in high volume ('practice makes perfect') and by bringing the latest developments in my field from cutting edge research by members of AAHKS and CHKS-the American Association for Hip and Knee Surgeons and the Center for Hip and Knee surgery. When patients leave my office they should have every question answered and fully understand their problem and the different treatment options. They are visiting a Fellowship-Trained Sub-specialist who performs over 300 joint replacements per year rather than a general orthopedist who may do 30-40 joint repacements per year.Less...
