Care Philosophy

" My care philosophy is to listen to the patients' problem, examine their total health history, and try to tailor a treatment plan to solve or lessen the problem, starting with the most conservative approach. I thrive on helping my patients reduce or eliminate their pain, and become active again. It is very rewarding to watch someone to come in and see me with a significant problem, work with them over time, and see them return to their prior level of activity".

Colorado Springs Orthopaedic Group is dedicated to comprehensive, specialized and exceptional patient care. Our subspecialized physicians treat sports injuries, hand and arm injuries, foot and ankle problems, back and neck pain, hip and knee conditions and arthritis. Our onsite services include X-ray, MRI, orthotics and prosthetics, physical and occupational therapy and outpatient surgery. Furthermore, our evening and Saturday hours allow same day appointments for your urgent orthopedic needs.

Absolutely one the best experiences I have ever had with a doctor. He is considerate, and explains all procedures in a way that I could understand. Having surgery in a couple of weeks, and I have the utmost confidence in his skills.

Dr. Matthews treated me for an ankle injury. He was patient and listened to everything I had to say. He gave concise yett easy to understand answers and instructions. He has a very approachable demeanor and friendly smile. I would highly recommend him to anyone for an orthopedic issue.

Dr Matthews is the best. He took care of my knee 10 years ago and when I hurt my shoulder I went to him and had surgery. He and his staff are great. Caring and super nice.
in Colorado Springs, CO |
On my first visit to Dr Matthews I had to wait two and a half hours to be taken to an exam room. After my time with the Dr he said someone would right in to make a follow up appointment and discharge me. Another 15 to 20 min passed with no one showing. I took myself to the front desk asking to make a follow up appt. She dialed a # handed me the phone and walked away. When a mailbox recording came on, I walked out. The staff was totally incompetent and rude in the way they handeled the patients

Dr. Matthews is an excellent orthopedist in all respects. He listens to the problem, examines and gets the necessary films/tests done. He is highly skilled in his procedures and his manner in the hospital and office are equally compassionate. His staff have also been responsive.

Dr. MATTHEWS replaced one of my hips and also both kneesas well as having done repair surgeries on both shoulders! I am a 77 year old daily golfer! I no longer walk the course, but due to Dr. MATTHEWS expertise I play pain free and live a very active life minus all my previous joint pain! He is extremely conciencious and very patient oriented! Hopefully I'll need no further orthopedic surgery, but if I do I am certain Dr. Matthews will be the man! Don Jorgensen

Excellent manner, actually takes the time to listen, then gives easily understood answers to questions. I think this guy likes helping people, and is pleased to share his skills and abilities.

I met David Matthews M.D. while recovering from a very painful full knee replacement while a patient under another surgeon. He listened to all my Concerns and changed my medication to see if I'd get more relief. He was very caring. My pain was not controlled while at hospital, not due to anything Dr. Matthews had ordered., I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN SUCH HORRIBLE PAIN AFTER A JOINT KNEE REPLACEMENT. JUST FROM HIS CARING COMPASSIONATE MANNER I'D RECOMMEND DR.MATTHEWS. HE'S VERY PROFESSIONAL.
