My sister recommended Dr Matthews because he is so thorough when answering questions/concerns. I went to him after a bad experience with another OBGYN at a different clinic. I will have to say he IS thorough with any questions I have (which I really appreciate) BUT i've been experiencing gallbladder pain that has become increasingly worse, he sent me to get an ultrasound done of the RUQ of my abdomen, images came back normal. I asked Dr Matthews if there was any chance the ultrasound could have missed something and he literally said "I trust a scan or an image more than I trust a patient's symptoms". This comment INFURIATED me. I am currently 35 weeks pregnant and I'm just PRAYING we get through the rest of this pregnancy without any more issues... wish me luck for the delivery...

My wife has had two appointments with dr Matthews so far. First appointment we waited about an hour to be seen. Once he saw us he was nice but very awkward with everything. Second appointment we waited over two hours to be seen. He told us that we should only schedule afternoon appointments if we are “okay waiting long amounts of time, because people like to chat in the afternoons”. He asked if we wanted to do genetic testing to see if there were any complications and abnormalities such as “Down Syndrome” in which we would “need to consider abortion, which isn’t very popular around here”. Again, was just very awkward. Really was not impressed one bit and was extremely disappointed with his comments. No bedside manner at all. Seems as if he knows how to be a doctor, but doesn’t know how to be a human.

On the day of my delivery, he was 2 hours late. My delivery nurse had me crowning and we had to wait for him. Once he finally showed, he told me he had another appt. and needed to leave in 30 minutes. He then asked if he could cut me to make it go faster!

I went to see Dr. Matthews to get my IUD replaced. He is a wonderful doctor that is very knowledgeable with a great bedside manner. He answered all my questions and made me feel very comfortable. Very nice, very smart. I will definitely return to him in the future.

While Dr. Matthews is very thorough in explaining things (sometimes way more than I need or care to know), he made me feel awkward during many visits. I had a bad delivery experience with him that left me questioning his experience/knowledge. I suffered with a condition post-partum that was very painful, and he insisted that I didn't want him to examine me and I was going to heal on my own. After months, I chose to see a specialist and saw improvements within a week of treatment.
