Dr. Lightfoot has been a general ophthalmologist since early 1986 when he joined the family practice. His special interests are with glaucoma and neuro-ophthalmology. Dr. Lightfoot is active in the community and currently serves as the Chair of the Continuing Medical Education Committee at Memorial Hospital, and member of the Northwestern Pacific Railroad Historical Society.
Born in San Francisco, CA, Dr. David Lightfoot moved to Santa Rosa, CA in 1956. He began his education at Santa Rosa Junior College, transferred to the University of Oregon, and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. He obtained his M.D. degree from Northwestern University at Chicago and completed his ophthalmology residency at Hahnemann, now Drexel University in Philadelphia. He also completed a neuro-ophthalmology fellowship at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia and is certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
