Care Philosophy

This content was provided by Dr. Kummerfeld "I approach every patient as a family member and treat you as I would have my own mother, grandmother or child treated.  I believe in nonoperative interventions whenever possible and reserve operative intervention as the last step in the care pathway.

Patient expectations and involvement in their own care is paramount in the recovery process.  If a particular habit or medical condition will potentially impede the outcome of a treatment, I educate the patient about those conditions in a nonjudgmental manner."

As a post operative patient of Dr kummerfeld's I can personally and honestly give this man the review someone with his talent deserves. I had my first shoulder surgery in 05'. Years later I ended up in the remarkable hands of Dr kummerfeld dreading an inevitable second surgery on the same shoulder. As a patient that has experienced shoulder surgery twice I can honestly say that this Dr is the best is at what he does. I'd recommend him to anyone who is seeking a good honest surgeon. Thanks doc!

I can't thank Dr. Kummerfeld enough for taking time to help me through some painful times with my shoulder. He was caring and so was his staff. I felt great about his decisions in going forward. One Doctor said that I would need surgery and then I decided to try Dr. Kummerfeld from Azalea. Best decision I could have made. Karen Martin

Dr. Kummerfeld answered all my questions before scheduling my surgery for a broken wrist. He was knowledgeable and friendly. Post-op appointments were also very good, more answers, recommendations for exercises, etc. I have better mobility in my now-healed wrist then in the unbroken one, even though I had a plate and 9 screws.
