Dr. Kamelhar has surpassed our expectations much beyond what we were hoping for in a physician. In July 2019, when my wife found out she has a rare lung disease, she went through 3 different pulmonologists before she found Dr. Kamelhar, who really understands her disease. Besides his experience and knowledge, Dr. Kamelhar is organized, collaborative, conscientious and empathetic. Dr. Kamelhar has a unique compassion for his patients, and my wife knows she can get in touch with him at all times easily including weekends when she has a problem; this CALMS her ANXIETY.  Now she sleeps and eats well which boosts her immune system to fight this disease.  After more than 2 years, her condition has improved and is stable. Thank you, Dr. Kamelhar.  You are the best of the best.

I agree with the statement above that no matter the long wait or sometimes chaos on the phones, it's all well worth it. Dr. Kamelhar convinced me not to delay treatment by bargaining with me about the procedures. I traded him one bronscopy for a nebulizer and flutter machine, and have decided to go further with treatment rather than to wait around. His wry sense of humor and kind, focused, and skilled manner is what a great healer is all about. He's at the top of my list.

He is a brilliant pulmonologist. I've had issues that others simply overlooked on lung scans and he was able to spot and treat them. He is very efficient - his practice is very busy- but spends an ample amount of time in discussion. If he needs information from another of my doctors, or wants to nudge them to treat or test for something he's concerned about, he'll call them and they tend to jump to attention immediately -- he's that respected among NYU affiliated doctors. Plus, he's great about answering messages, calls & emails from patients. There is a downside, in that the office is *terribly* managed. There is a huge desk staff but somehow it's difficult to get calls through, and they aren't always good with following up on things like test scheduling when he asks them to. But being that he's about a 6-star doc, I'm not docking a point for that!

David Kamelhar was recommended to my by a good friend, who is a doctor that referrer plenty of patients to him as well.. I called 4 weeks ago, and even it was only 4:30pm the after hours Center picked up and I left a message with all my details. Few days later I called again as nobody called me back and set an appointment for today, that was about 3 weeks wait... The appointment was at 9:30am.... A lady opened the door and advised that the office is closed for a holiday party and they called all clients to reschedule. She lady claimed they called all patients and informed them and rescheduled... nobody called me.... To be honest I was surprised no one called me to confirm but with the holidays I was understood....I was not the only one who was not informed. Another person did a Un turn just before me... Not professional, not ethical and disrespectful.. Shame on him and his staff...

Do not trust this physician. Knowing that my mom had liver disease he overmedicated her with huge doses of antibiotics for a lung infection. She went into liver failure and died. He never explained her condition to me or advised me as to what foods were safe to give her and what foods weren't, and had a terribly arrogant attitude when I asked any questions which I had to run after him to ask as he wouldn't stop. A year later he said he didn't remember my mom - that all pts are the same to him.

Dr. Kamelhar is the best and most thorough pulmonologist I have seen - and I saw a few! I have Bronchiectasis and have managed this for over 10 years under the watchful eye of Dr. Kamelhar. He has the best resources - excellent radiologist at NYU which also has the top equipment in the city. Get an early appt. as waiting time is longer than it should be.

Dr. K is one of the best physicians I have encountered (and I have seen quite a few), He is incredibly thorough and observant--e.g., although I was seeing him for a pulmonary condition, just listening to my voice he questioned whether I have acid reflux (I have been treated for it for years), and diagnosed that my medication level was insufficient. You likely will wait a long time to be seen, but if you are concerned that you might have a serious condition, you could not be in better hands.
