This content was provided by Dr. Hnida "Dr. David Hnida's career is most clearly defined by his body of work as a primary care physician and a broadcast journalist. Dr. Hnida received his undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Pennsylvania before continuing his education in medicine at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Board certified by the American Osteopathic College of Family Practice since 1983, he completed his residency at Presbyterian / St. Luke's Medical Center in Denver. After his residency, he continued to work as a primary care physician and later at Swedish Medical Center. Dr. Hnida forayed into broadcast journalism in 1989 when he became a medical reporter for KCNC-TV, Denver's CBS affiliate, a position he holds to this day. He also serves as the medical editor for CBS4 Denver, as well as a medical contributor for CBS News in New York and a sports medicine contributor for ESPN on a national basis. Dr. Hnida has also consulted for Major League Baseball. Dr. Hnida's distinguished career is augmented by his service in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, where he served multiple tours of duty in Iraq as a combat and trauma surgeon. He also deployed to Afghanistan and several countries in the Middle East. His best-selling book detailing his time spent in the military, "Paradise General," was published in 2010 by Simon and Schuster."
