Board certification should be one of your top considerations when choosing a doctor. Board certification is an official recognition given to doctors who have met specific requirements set by national medical specialty boards in the United States.
Board certification indicates that a doctor is highly qualified in the medical field in which he or she practices. A board-certified doctor is more likely than a non-board-certified doctor to have the most current skills and knowledge about how to treat your medical condition.
Allergy & Immunology
Allergen immunotherapy, either shots or drops, has been shown to be effective not only in controlling allergy symptoms while you take them, but continue to be effective for years after you finish taking them, if you have been on a high enough dose for a long enough period of time.
That last part, starting with "if..." is very important.
The dose of your allergy shots makes all the difference as to whether they work or not. Many doctors who call themselves "allergists" have no formal training in allergy and immunology.
At The Allergy Clinic and Houston Allergy and Asthma Clinic, we are able to get your dose of allergy shots up to the effective dose very quickly, either with RUSH or CLUSTER. With RUSH, you are in our office for a full day while we desensitize you over the course of that day. Is it safe? Yes! We are the innovators of RUSH in Houston and performed the procedure over 3,000 times since 1996. CLUSTER is basically RUSH broken up into 8 or 9 parts. You receive 3 or 4 sets of allergy shots over the course of an hour or two, once or twice a week, for a couple months before reaching maintenance dose.
ONCE A MONTH:
Once the dose of your allergy shots is high enough, you only have to take maintenance shots once a month.
We also offer drops!

Healthgrades updates the Recognized Doctor list quarterly based on board certification data. Healthgrades also receives sanction and malpractice data throughout the year, depending on how frequently the state medical boards release updates.
We remove a newly sanctioned doctor from the Recognized Doctor list as soon as we receive the information. However, it is important to note that malpractice information is publically available in only 14 states.

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.
